Frequently Asked Questions

With such a variety of different materials and methods, there are bound to be questions — well, here they are, with answers, too!

Q: How can I tell what ring size I need?

A: It depends on the ring; generally, wrapping a paper ring sizer around the preferred digit gives a reasonable measurement; however, some thicker rings may require additional techniques for assessing the proper size. Wider rings need to be up to 1/2 size larger to allow the knuckle to slide through.

Q: What is a “removable drop”?

A: Usually it is a small segment of cascading pearls or gems, linked, with a small metal ring at the top which can hang down from on an earring or pin.

Q: What is a “ring wave”?

A: Eve’s rings are designed to be more comfortable than standard rings; they are more squared than round, matching the shape of the finger better, and preventing the ring from turning or spinning on the finger. Many of Eve’s rings have a “wave” which is a little bump inside the bottom of the ring. The wave helps rings fit better.

Q: How many different types of pearls are there?

A: South Seas, Keshi, American Blister, and many more, most of them cultured.

Q: What are the letters following each round diamond (such as F-G/VS)?

A: Those are the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) diamond quality codes. The first letters describe the “whiteness” of the diamond (The best color is “D”), and the second symbols (VS, VS2, SI1) indicate diamond clarity. E-F/VS, the code you see most often on our site, would be a very good quality diamond.

Q: How often does Eve create a new series?

A: Just about every 6 months — We have an open house party to celebrate each new series.

Q: What is the best way to put on earrings that have both clip and post?

A: First, put the post in, then you give the earrings a gentle “push” upwards before snapping the Omega clip into place, in order to grasp more of the lobe. This way, they sit higher and firmer on the lobe.

Q: I am shopping for an engagement ring. Can you give me a general idea of price range, and design options?

A: We would be very happy to work with you on a special engagement ring that is elegant, comfortable, and has that personal and different look that makes it a wonderful surprise for your fiancee. If you look at the wedding and engagement rings shown on our site, you can get a good idea about designs that appeal to you. The price would depend on the type of ring, the precious metal you like best, platinum or gold, and the color gold you choose; there are many diamond and gemstone possibilities, depending on size and grade. I think you will find the prices reasonable, and we have made rings for many, many couples who, I think, would agree. We know it is not the kind of shopping one does every day, and will try and make it comfortable for you, both in the working details and for your budget. E-mail us when you are ready to design your ring!

Q: How do I know which ring or bracelet is right for me?

A: That’s interesting; rings and bracelets are items that the wearer can actually enjoy and see for themselves all the time! Our recommendation is that you select something that will entertain you while you are stuck in traffic, or in a boring meeting!

Q: I set up a wish list, but now I can't find it! What happened?

A: When an item is removed from our database (that is, removed from the website) it also drops off any wish lists. This means that if all your favorites were taken completely off the site (we do this when a one-of-a-kind item sells that we don't need to keep as a starting point for a custom design) then your wish list will go away. The program has no way to save an empty wish list at this time.
