“Les Animaliers” Series Artist Statement
In my own evocation of this ancient art, in gold, platinum and silver, I wanted to show both the animal, and the “idea” of the animal… the shadow on the wall of Plato’s cave. I am also fascinated by the way in which the beasts seem confined within their frame — a captivity to be sure, but a magnificent one.
